Breaking News: Dillon pep rally CANCELLED

The title to this post might be a tad bit intense, but according to this article from The Observer, the Dillon pep rally, the hall's signature event, has been canceled this year. Current and former Dillionites are weeping; we have received no comment from Alumni Hall at this time...

Another department rewarded

Following in the steps of the History Department (recently rewarded for its fellowships, story here), the Industrial Design program was recently ranked as one of the world's top programs by Business Week magazine. The ranking, based on the number of awards won in the past five years, puts Notre Dame in a tie for fourth.

Football overview

If you're anything like me, this Saturday has been circled in red on the calendar for a long time (if you're not like me and are really confused, this Saturday is the first Notre Dame football game of the season). The New York Times, of all papers, has taken an interest in Notre Dame football and its recent futility in this article. I hope that, by January, they'll really have something to talk about!

New deans and nd.edu videos

A few months ago, I posted about the new deans in many of our colleges on campus. For the past few days, www.nd.edu has been running videos with the new deans, discussing their colleges and different programs within them. The main University website is always a great reasource for prospective students for reasons like this!

History fellowships

As detailed in this article, Notre Dame's Department of History has won more fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) than any other university. Sure, any university can have professors earning fellowships and bringing research money into the different departments, but the way our faculty incorporates their research into the classes is second to none.

Here come the students!

While the weather is not ideal (cloudy and humid with a chance of rain), most first-year undergraduates arrive on campus today.
